The building of this magnificent white marble gothic cathedral began in 1386 by the Visconti family and was only finished in 1965. It is the fourth-largest church in the world. On the top the gold statue of “Madonnina” (the little Madonna) protects the city. Don’t miss the visit on the roof of the church with an amazing view on the city and the Alps.

GALLERIA VITTORIO EMANUELE II

The Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a covered double arcade formed of two glass-vaulted arcades at right angles intersecting in an octagon, prominently sited on the northern side of the Piazza del Duomo in Milan, and connects to the Piazza della Scala. Named after Vittorio Emanuele II, the first king of united Italy, it was originally designed in 1861 and built by Giuseppe Mengoni between 1865 and 1877. The Galleria is famous for being home to some of the oldest shops and restaurants in Milan.

From 1495 to 1497 Leonardo Da Vinci painted the scene of The Last Supper representing the moment when Jesus told his Apostles that one of them would betray him. This fresco has been painted on the wall of Santa Maria delle Grazie when this was the refectory of a Dominican convent.

"Alla Scala" Theatre inaugurated on 3 August 1778 is the most important Italian Opera House and one of the most famous in the world. The Theatre was built according to the desire of the Empress Maria Teresa of Austria after the old " Teatro Regio Ducale", was destroyed by fire on the 26th of February 1776.

The “Navigli” of Milan are the artificial canals conceived by Leonardo Da Vinci and were constructed between 1179 (Naviglio Grande) and the 16th century (Naviglio Martesana) with the purpose of making Milan accessible from Ticino and Adda rivers. Milan fashion week is a fashion industry event, lasting approximately one week, which allows fashion designers, brands or "houses" to display their latest collections in runway shows and buyers to take a look at the latest trends. Fieramilano left its historic city Centre site in 2006 to move to the outskirts of Milan (Rho), to the new exhibition complex designed by Massimiliano Fuksas. It includes eight pavilions that make available a total of 345,000 square meters gross covered exhibition space and sixty outside. Fieramilano hosts the annual famous “Salone del Mobile”. The old Trade Fair, now called “FieramilanoCity” continues to host smaller exhibitions with more limited logistical requirements.

The Stadium “Giuseppe Meazza”, commonly referred to as the San Siro because it is located in the San Siro district of Milan. It is the home of both A.C. Milan and F.C. Lake Maggiore (60 km from Milan) is the second largest lake of Italy and largest of southern Switzerland. The climate is mild in both summer and winter, producing Mediterranean vegetation, with beautiful gardens growing rare and exotic plants. Well-known gardens include those of the Isola Madre, Isola Bella and the Isole di Brissago, that of the Villa Taranto in Verbania, and the Alpinia botanical garden above Stresa.
